Organization of American States

(OAS)

Welcome, delegates, to the Organization of American States (OAS) committee. In this committee, delegates will address the escalating threat of illicit firearms proliferation in the Americas, where local law enforcement and communities face high-level corruption, black-market supply chains, and outgunned security forces. Your task is to forge actionable regional solutions that curb arms trafficking, enhance maritime and border interdiction, and cut off criminal financing while balancing state sovereignty, domestic legal systems, and effective cross-border cooperation.

About the Chairs

Zoe Zaiger, 9th Grade

Hello delegates! My name is Zoe, and I am a freshman at The Masters School. I am thrilled to serve as one of your chairs for MASMUNC 2026! Having participated in Model UN throughout middle school, I developed a strong passion for collaboration and international relations. This year, I am excited to continue deepening my own MUN skills while helping you sharpen yours. Outside of committee rooms, I dedicate my free time to a variety of passions, including writing, volunteering, dancing, and reading. As one of your front room chairs, I will try to making this committee both engaging and fun for everyone involved. I can’t wait to meet all of you, hear your unique perspectives, and witness the brilliant ideas you bring to the table.

Maya Wani, 11th Grade

Welcome to the OAS committee! My name is Maya, and I am thrilled to serve as one of your co-chairs this year. While this is my very first year at Masters, it marks my fourth year participating in Model UN. I've previously chaired both the UNODC and SOCHUM committees. Outside of committee sessions, I love staying active through running and hiking. My ultimate personal dream is to challenge myself by summiting Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe. I am so excited to meet all of you and work together to ensure that you have a rewarding and memorable conference experience!
