This General Assembly committee will tackle the issues of access to quality education and the provision of essentials for children in schools. Globally, thirty-nine percent of those living in poverty have no formal education. Almost sixty million children of primary school age are not in school. Thirty countries have adult literacy rates below seventy percent. Fifteen million girls of primary school age will never have the opportunity to learn to read and write in primary school. To combat these startling statistics, UNESCO’s goal is to find solutions to these issues and create long-term plans to gradually improve the world of education. Fit for both newcomers and well-versed delegates, this topic is one that all participants can connect to through their experiences in school.
About the Chairs
Hello! My name is Ross Manzano and I use they/them pronouns. My MUN journey began in 7th grade, and I am now a junior! I joined while in online school, spending an hour every Thursday practicing debate with my fellow classmates. While I have always loved attending conferences, my favorite part of my MUN experience was chairing the backroom for MASMUNC II last year. Our crisis committee was based on Star Wars: Clone Wars. I had so much fun chairing in this, and can’t wait to chair for our GA this year!
Hello! My name is Johanna LeBuhn, and I am very excited that I am going to chair for MASMUNC! This is my second year at Masters and I am currently a sophomore. I have been doing Model UN for a little over a year now, and I love getting to work with my friends to prep for committees. I have done several GAs, and I love crisis. I am planning and hoping to make this committee great for everyone!
