Hello delegates, welcome to DISEC at MASMUNC IV! This year we’re tackling the pressing and complicated issue of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in war. As AI technology and autonomous weapons get more advanced, countries are faced with tough decisions that will shape the future of global security. Without international regulation, we risk an arms race that will outpace ethical and legal frameworks. Throughout this committee, you will be representing your assigned countries to address the threats of AI weaponization and try to come up with creative, collaborative solutions that promote peace, accountability and international stability.
About the Chairs
Knox Gary, 10th Grade
Hello everyone, my name is Knox Gary and I am so excited to be chairing DISEC AI this year! Besides Model UN, I build ideas I come up with, and I train in weights, shot-put and discus. I have been doing Model UN for nearly five years and I have had the privilege of chairing/staffing committees for three. I love MASMUNC because I have gotten to see how much the team has grown since MASMUNC I. I cannot wait to see your innovative solutions to our AI problems — let me know if you have any questions at knox.gary@mastersny.org and I will see you all at MASMUNC IV.

Amalie (Ami) Bagaria, 10th Grade, (She/Her)
Hi! My name is Ami, and I am looking forward to co-chairing the DISEC AI conference. I joined Model UN in the spring of my 9th-grade year, so this will be my first time at a conference! What drew me to Model UN wasn’t just the excitement of debate, but also the strong sense of community within the club. I believe Model UN teaches you valuable life skills that are helpful in school and beyond. Aside from Model UN, I love playing guitar, taking photos, hiking and playing tennis. MASMUNC IV will mark the start of my Model UN experience. I’m thrilled to learn and excited to see everyone's contributions to DISEC AI. Best of luck in your research!
